This was the beginning of a great adventure for us. We watched the egg casing closely all winter and then we had to move. We couldn't part with the egg casing so we carefully lifted it off of the door frame and brought it with us. We watched and waited for what seemed like forever and just when we thought that it would never hatch it did. I watched as one by one the tiny little mantis emerged from the egg casing. They wiggled their way out looking like little green worms. It was amazing. They were just the cutest little things too. They looked just like itty bitty mantis. Here are some pictures that I took of the tiny mantis emerging from their egg casing.
